2019-09: SMSF Investment Strategy

The ATO has recently written to 17,700 trustees regarding their fund’s investment strategy asking how the trustees have adequately considered and documented the diversification requirements outlined in SIS Regulation 4.09. In addition to contacting fund trustees, the Regulator has also contacted the appointed fund’s auditor to notify them of the ATO’s concerns.
